Another 4K Rocket Launch Video

The Brutus again - this time on an Aerotech I285 Redline motor. The motor took too long to light and therefore the ejection charge was too early. (Seems to be an ongoing issue with the redline motors).

The rocket was not damaged.

Mid Ohio Rocket Launch photos

Don't know whose rocket but I like the photo.

My Loc-Precision Wolverine on an I366 motor that fired late and therefore the delay burned through and the ejection charge fired early causing a massive tear in the airframe.   Everything looks good here though.

Rocket Launch Video 4K

Here is the on-board video from the Runcam2 4K camera.

The camera is Mounted in a 3D printed plastic housing attached to the upper half of the rocket.  The rocket is a 20+ year old Rocket R&D Brutus.  This rocket is no longer available.  https://www.fusionrocket.biz/ did offer a version about a year ago or so but I think it is not available as of June 2021.

The motor is an Aerotech I161 with a 10 second ejection delay. Maximum altitude estimated to be about 640 meters (2100 feet).

The Runcam2 4k  caused some trouble.  It seemed to stop recording for no apparent reason.  The current working hypothesis is that it turned off due to overheating when recording at 4K.

We are running tests to confirm this.

Update #1: Unable to reproduce the problem so far. I have recorded at least an hour of video in direct sunlight with no problems.  The camera gets very warm but it doesn't turn off.

Update #2: The microSD cards used are rated up to 20 MB/second write speeds.  This is too slow for 4K video.  I have new microSD cards rated to 90 MB/seconds.

Rocket Launch

LAUNCH!

Rocket R&D Brutus flying with an Aerotech I-357 motor.  On-board Eggtimer Quantum altimeter recorded 2160 feet as the altitude. Below is the raw filtered data from the altimeter.
