Black and White Film Images

A few images taken with Ilford B&W 35 mm film using both my Nikon FG, and a Nikon N55.  These are my favorites from the roll.  Most were taken at a local park in Northeastern Ohio.

Old Friends

I have a large number of old vinyl albums (And some new ones). Some I have kept for more than 30 years. They are worn. They have age spots. They still sound great.

I decided to photograph them - I intended to accentuate the wear. Here is one example....

I don't remember when I bought this album - probably in the early 1980s. It is an old companion that I turn to when nostalgic.  actually, that is not correct  - there is nothing about this artwork that is dated or irrelevant. I turn to it to be soothed, entertained, enlightened, uplifted.

This is an ongoing project. I plan to post more old friends in the near future.

Black and White Film

More images from the rolls of film - these black and white shots were made with Kodak TriX 400. The grain is quite large and present in this film.

Film - really old film

I found several rolls of 35mm color and B&W film that I had not yet developed. It had been around for a few years.  I sent it to a mail order film developer called the darkroom. I received the downloads today and I am quite happy with the results,   All of these images were shot with a Nikon FM camera with a 50 mm 1.8 lens. I believe the film is all Velvia 50 from Fujifilm

More Backyard Photography

Lots of wonderful yellow flowers in the backyard! Some may consider them weeds.

I held the flower up to the sun and used the on-camera flash along with an F22 aperture to keep the flower lit.

I used the same technique for this image. I used F16 for this one.

Towpath Trail

Walking along the Oho Erie towpath trail. Shaggy Cattails are evident.

Apparently they are edible.

It's turtles all the way down....

These are Midland Painted Turtles. This particular painted turtle subspecies is unique to Ohio.

Backyard photography

The light was good. I headed into the backyard to look for signs of spring and photograph them.

There is no need to travel to an exotic location. Good photos can be made anywhere.  Just keep in mind - subject, composition and light.
